Boun Ok Phansa and the Pakse boat races are expected around 26–27 October 2026 on the Sedone river near its confluence with the Mekong. The riverside road from Wat Luang to the Sedone bridge will be closed at times, and crowds come in from all over Champasak.
Tuk-tuk and jumbo prices are often 2–3 times higher than usual. Check a reference price with the PakseHub fare calculator and always agree the fare before you get in — or book a verified driver. Allow extra time to reach the airport and bus terminals.
On the full-moon night illuminated boats are floated on the river. Watch your bags in the crowds and don't park motorbikes across emergency access lanes.
