A secluded jungle waterfall dropping into a wide pool — in the dry season you can swim right behind the curtain of water. Far quieter than Tad Fane or Tad Yeung.
A hidden jungle pool
Tad Champee is named after the champa (frangipani), Laos’ national flower. The falls are about 15–20 m high and drop as a single curtain into a wide, round pool ringed by rock walls and forest — like a natural swimming pool hidden in the jungle.
Swim behind the curtain
The highlight comes in the dry season (December–April), when the flow eases and you can swim or scramble along the rocks to stand behind the curtain of water — something the bigger falls don’t offer. Short steps lead down to the base, and flat rocks make a good picnic spot.
Getting there and facilities
Tad Champee is close to Tad Pha Suam: turn off Route 20 and follow a dirt road for about 2 km. Facilities are basic — parking, a toilet and a small drinks stall — so bring your own water and snacks.
Safety
In the rainy season (June–October) the water is strong and murky — do not swim behind the falls. The rocks around the pool are mossy and very slippery, so wear sandals with heel straps. Leeches are common in the wet season and the water is cold; bring a towel and a light jacket, and don’t visit alone.
